Eugene “Gene” Carver, age 88, of Barnesville, GA, passed away on Saturday, April 5th, 2025, at Upson Regional Medical Center. He was born in Coffee County Georgia in 1936 to Lawton and Pearl Carver. After attending Coffee County High School, he joined the U.S. Army. After his time in the army, he began a long and very successful career in the insurance business. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Barnesville, where he served as an active deacon for many years. He was preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his wife of seventy years; Sandra Harper Carver, his daughter; Brenda Bates, and son-in-law; Riley Bates, and four nephews; Donnie Harper, Dennis Harper, David Harper, and Michael Dorminey.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 9th, 2025, at Sims Funeral Home in Douglas, GA, from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 9th, 2025, at The Chapel of Sims Funeral Home in Douglas, GA, at 2:00 PM, with Rev. Dennis Harper officiating. Interment will follow at Griffin Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will include: Michael Bracewell, Michael Dorminey, David Harper, Donnie Harper, and Wade Purvis.

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
