Joann Sheffield, age 83, of Denton, GA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 8th, 2025, at her residence. She was surrounded by her family. Ms. Sheffield was born on May 13th, 1941, the daughter of Mr. Elbert and Mrs. Ruth Cato.
Her survivors include: seven children; David (Sue) Henderson, Sherrie Henderson, Laddie Henderson, Steve Henderson, Tony Hayward, Deanne (Clark Harper) Hayward, and Tracy Warren, eighteen grandchildren; Ricky (Sarah) Mitchem, Freedom Mitchem, Scotty (Melanie) Mitchem, Mandie Selph, Graham Henderson, Michael Henderson, Ethan Henderson, Dawson Henderson, Kristi Henderson, Caleb Henderson, Taylor (Ashley) Hayward, Austin Smith, Jody (Billy) Smith Rollins, Eric Allen, Tanya Teasley, Robbie Hester, Jamie Hester, and Robbin Hester Melissa, thirty-four great grandchildren; Marley (AJ) Mullenix, Kam Selph, Aniston Wooten, Brinley Wooten, Zeakial (Tree) Henderson, River Henderson, Houston Mitchem, Alivia Mitchem, Haleigh Burns, Benjamin Mitchem, Hunter (Liberty) Fortner, Alexis (Aeromis) Gonzalez, Arjay Patchen, Cali Mora, Ana Mora, Aries Smith, Bryce Rollins, Blakely Rollins, Tober Herrington, Nicholas Garcia, Becca Garcia, Dezzy Garcia, Haley Harrison, Emily Harrison, Melissa Hester, Trevor Thompson, Trey Thompson, Kelsie Thompson, Tinley Allen, Lanley Allen, Jaden Henderson, Kayleigh Henderson, Judah Henderson, and Kristian Henderson, seven great-great grandchildren; Adelina Gonzalez, Alaia Gonzalez, Aziah Gonzalez, Brexton Mitchem, Riley Fortner, Kataleya Burns, and Jack Mullenix, five siblings; Delane Roberts, Mary Sue Montford, Joyce (Ken) Haile, Jerry (Marilyn) Cato, and Dell Smith, along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her beloved husband; David Sheffield, two brothers; Wiley Cato and Eddie Cato, father; Lonnie Elbert (Buddy) Cato, and mother; Ruth Cox Cato, three children; Greg Sheffield, Teresa Hester, and Burt Sheffield, and two grandchildren; Andrew Hayward, and Matthew Henderson.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 12th, 2025, at 11:00AM, at Salem Holiness Church Cemetery, in Douglas, GA, with Rev. David Henderson officiating.
Active pallbearers will include: Michael Hutcheson, Rob Miller, Houston Mitchem, Kamden Selph, Austin Faircloth, A.J. Mullenix, and Chris Cato.
