Bacon County Red Raiders head football coach Mark Wilson has resigned after three seasons. He has accepted the head coaching position at Flint River Academy in Woodbury. Coach Wilson announced his resignation on April 14. He was announced as the head coach at Flint River the same day.
In a statement released by the Bacon County School System, Coach Wilson stated, “My passion for the game and the young men I’ve had the privilege to coach remains as strong as ever. This decision comes from a desire to embrace a new chapter in life – one with a little less intensity and a little more time for family.”
“We are incredibly grateful for Coach Wilson’s vision, heart, and unwavering dedication to our students and community,” said Charlie Powell, Bacon County High principal. “He leaves behind a legacy of integrity, hard work, and compassion. We celebrate his accomplishments and wish him the very best in his next chapter.”
During his 34-year career, Coach Wilson has an overall record of 165-177-1 with two region championships (both at Lamar County). With the Red Raiders, Coach Wilson has posted an overall record of 9-23 with three playoff appearances.
