On the evening of April 13, 2025, the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a physical altercation between John Ashford and Cody Elijah Edge at a residence on Old Waycross Highway.

According to statements obtained on scene, both individuals had been drinking throughout the day when a verbal exchange escalated into a physical confrontation. Each party alleged the other was the aggressor. At least one claimed a threat involving a firearm, though witnesses never saw a weapon.

Due to conflicting accounts and both individuals admitting to mutual combat while under the influence of alcohol, both were charged with disorderly conduct and transported to the Coffee County Jail where they were informed of their eligibility to post bond.
