Mr. Cecil Jackson Grainger, Sr., age 84, of Douglas, Georgia, passed away Wednesday evening, April 16, 2025 following a period of declining health.

Mr. Grainger was born October 28, 1940 in Felda, Florida to the late Cecil Edward Grainger and the late Beatrice Sumner Grainger.  He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and a lifelong farmer.  He and his family moved to Douglas, Georgia 15 years ago from Naples, Florida.  He was a loving husband, dad, granddad, and great-granddad who enjoyed working in his yards.  He loved God, his family, his country, music, singing, dancing, and feeding people.

Mr. Grainger leaves behind his loving wife of 53 years, Freda Hayes Grainger of Douglas, Georgia; a son, Cecil Jackson Grainger, Jr. of Douglas, Georgia; 4 daughters: Debra G. Glosson and husband, John, of Douglas, Georgia, Jacqueline G. Offutt and husband, Steven, of Statham, Georgia, Rebecca G. Lowther and husband, James, of Douglas, Georgia, Cheryl G Christenson of Magna, Utah; 8 grandchildren: Amanda, Casey, Freda, Kiyah, Grant, Jude, Bing, Tallulah; 9 great-grandchildren; and a number of extended family members and friends.

Along with his parents, Mr. Grainger was preceded in death by a brother, J. R. Grainger; 3 sisters: Cecil Grainger, Linda Grainger, and Betty G. Brown.

Memorialization was by cremation and a memorial service was held for Mr. Grainger on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at 11:30 AM at Gracepoint Church with Rev. Dr. Ben Glosson officiating.  Musical selections of “Going Home”, “I know Who Holds Tomorrow”, “His Eye Is On The Sparrow”, “There’s Something About That Name”, and “Because He Lives” were presented by John I. Glosson and Tommy Ponsell.

Mr. Grainger’s arrangements were entrusted to the kind and compassionate staff of Ricketson Funeral Home, Inc.
