On April 26, 2025, the Keep Douglas Beautiful (KDB) Committee and the City of Douglas joined hands to organize the Greatest American Cleanup event. The community united to make a positive impact by volunteering their time and efforts to clean up various areas of Douglas.

“We appreciate all our volunteers,” said Allisa Mills-Jackson, KDB President. “Their hard work and dedication have made the city cleaner and more beautiful. It was truly a remarkable effort by everyone involved.”

More than 40 volunteers participated in the event, working tirelessly to collect over 50 bags of trash and several tires. Volunteer groups focused on several streets in the city’s Ward 1 district that were identified as needing litter pick-up using the Litter Index, a tool designed to pinpoint areas in the city requiring cleanup.

After their hard work, volunteers enjoyed a great lunch at Fire Station #1, provided by the Douglas Fire Department and Williams Institutional Foods. A special thank you goes to the Douglas Fire Department, Williams Institutional Foods, Keep Georgia Beautiful, Chick-fil-A, and all the volunteers who contributed to the success of the event. For more information or to volunteer, please call Alyssa at (912) 383-0277 or email afussell@cityofdouglasga.gov.
