A 36-year-old Douglas man was arrested and jailed after he allegedly threatened to kill two individuals after he was caught allegedly stealing mail from mailboxes
An incident report from the sheriff’s office states that at around noon on May 6, 2025, a deputy responded to Parkway Drive in reference to a fight. When the officer arrived, he learned that Patrick Wells Jr., 36, of Douglas, had been seen allegedly stealing mail from mailboxes. The owner of the homes confronted Wells who then, the report says, told the owner that Wells “owned all of this” and took off on a bicycle. The report says the owner of the homes pulled up beside Wells in a pickup and asked for the mail back. Wells allegedly lunged at the owner through the window of the truck then ran around to the driver’s side of the truck and kicked the front fender/door area, causing damage. At some point during the incident, the report says that Wells stated, “Killing is free and I’m going to f’ing kill you.” Wells also threatened to kill the owner’s son as well, according to the report.
Wells fled into a burnt mobile home, the report says, and tried to elude officers. A deputy caught him inside the home and attempted to arrest him. The report says that Wells wouldn’t comply and a struggle ensued. Officers were ultimately able to get Wells under control and in custody, according to the report.
Wells was charged with two counts of terroristic threats and acts, criminal damage to property, and simple assault. He was transported to the Coffee County Jail.
