Former Pearson police chief Tanner Farmer, who found himself in the news in April when he abruptly resigned from the department then announced on social media that the entire police department had also resigned (that turned out to not be true), is back in the headlines.
And once again, it’s for all the wrong reasons.
Farmer, who lives in Waycross, was arrested Wednesday morning and booked into the Ware County Jail after an apparent domestic dispute. Details have not been released but Farmer was charged with aggravated assault (family violence) as well as battery (family violence first offense) and cruelty to children in the 3rd degree. The battery and cruelty to children charges are misdemeanors while the aggravated assault charge is a felony. Farmer was released on $10,000 bond.
Farmer was also running for the District 4 Waycross city commission seat. It appears as though he has suspended his campaign as a result of his arrest.
