Mrs. Mary Ann Kuhn Nelson, age 93, of Wadsworth, Ohio passed away Sunday evening at Lakeside Senior Care in Douglas, Georgia with loved ones by her side.

Mrs. Nelson was born October 27, 1931 in Wadsworth, Ohio, to the late Ivan Clifford Kuhn and the late Ruth Margaret Rohrer Kuhn.  She was a devoted wife to the late George Robert Nelson for seventy years before his passing in 2021.  She dedicated her life to caring for her family.  She was a loving mother, arising before dawn to help her son with his paper route.  She was an excellent seamstress, making most of her daughter’s clothes as well as being known to darn her family’s socks.  Mrs. Nelson was an outstanding cook who was famous in her family for her spaghetti, chocolate chip cookies and carrot cake.  She and her husband were avid round dancers, traveling throughout Ohio and Floridiato participate.  They also had a home in Florida in which to escape the cold winter months of Ohio and to bask in the Florida warmth.  Mary Ann was an avid journalist keeping a diary of daily activities for her posterity to cherish. She enjoyed reading, especially the daily local newspaper, as well as historical biographies.  Family dinners and holidays always included traditional board games and card playing where she was a frequent winner.  In her later years she learned to solve Sudoku puzzles.  She will be greatly missed by her loving family

Mrs. Nelson leaves behind her 3 children: George F. Nelson of Rittman, Ohio, Roger W. Nelson and wife, Virginia, of Douglas, Georgia, and Annalee N. Diehl and husband, Tim Baker of Ravenna, Ohio; 5 grandchildren: Andy, Jenna, Josh, Nathan, and Zachary; 5 great-grandchildren; a sister, who was near and dear to her heart, Wanda K. Blackwood of Wadsworth, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Jerome Nelson of California; along with a number of extended family members.

Along with her husband and parents, Mrs. Nelson was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Kuhn.

Memorialization will be by cremation and she will laid to rest with her husband at Woodlawn Cemetery in Wadsworth, Ohio at a later date.

Condolences, kind words and fond memories may be shared with Mrs. Nelson’s family at www.ricketsonfuneralhome.com.

Mrs. Nelson’s arrangements have been entrusted to the kind and compassionate staff of Ricketson Funeral Home, Inc. of Douglas, Georgia.
