Mrs. Shirley Jean Kirkland Hamilton, age 83, of Broxton, Georgia, passed away Friday morning, June 6, 2025, at Coffee Regional Medical Center following a period of declining health. 

Mrs. Hamilton, a Coffee County native, was born October 29, 1941 in Douglas, Georgia to the late Warren Preston Kirkland and the late Ida Adams Kirkland.  She was a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked at Douglas Memorial Hospital and then for Dr. Wills for many years.  She was a member of Douglas Christian Fellowship.

Mrs. Hamilton leaves behind 2 daughters: Cloice Renee Crews and husband, William, of Alma, Georgia, Allison Carter and husband, Chad, of Broxton, Georgia; 2 step-daughters: Tonya Arnold and husband Guerry, of Douglas, Georgia, Lisa Adams and husband, Craig, of Jacksonville, Florida; 7 grandchildren: Justin Nugent, Collin Crews, Jeremy Crews, Stormy Castro, Brianna Wilson, Jessie Carter, Zachary Carter; 6 great grandchildren, and one on the way.

Mrs. Hamilton was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim Henry Hamilton; a half sister, Ida Vern White,; and a grandson, Ryan Christopher Nugent.

Mrs. Hamilton’s family will receive friends on Monday evening, June 9, 2025 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Ricketson Funeral Home.  Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday morning June 10, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Chatterton Holiness Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Tanner officiating.  Interment will follow in Chatterton Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will include: Justin Nugent, Justin Davis, Collin Crews, Jeremy Crews, Zachary Carter, Robert Wilson, Alex Castro, and Hayden Wilson.  Paige Giddens will be an honorary pallbearer.

Mrs. Hamilton’s arrangements have been entrusted to the kind and compassionate staff of Ricketson Funeral Home, Inc. of Douglas, Georgia.
