Mr. Tom Caves, age 88, of Broxton, Georgia, passed away Thursday morning, June 5, 2025 at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia following a recent decline in health following an accident.
Mr. Tom, a Coffee County native, was born May 24, 1937 in Broxton, Georgia to the late Loran Caves and the late Narcess Harper Caves. He was a proud United States Army veteran, a former letter carrier for the United States Postal Service, and he was the owner of AA Glass & Screen Company in Ocala, Florida for a number of years. He was also a member of the Elks Club. Mr. Tom was a natural care giver. He spent much of his time helping two dear cousins that lived nearby. His friends remember him as being “full of life”, caring, always visiting people, and one recently commented that he was “always a kind, steady presence”. In his younger days he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son-in-law. As Mr. Tom grew older he found enjoyment in his vegetable garden. His neighbors and friends were often times recipients of the bounty from his garden. He also found great pleasure in time spent with his family. He loved his grandbabies and great grandbabies and created many memories that they will cherish for years to come.
Mr. Tom leaves behind 2 daughters: Angela White and husband, Bill, of Ocala, Florida, and Kimberly Roberts and husband, James, of Canton, Georgia; grandchildren: Alexandra Ausdemore and husband, Michael, of Ocala, Florida, Andrew White and wife, Hannah White of Ocala, Florida, Ava Roberts of Canton, Georgia, Jed Roberts of Canton, Georgia; great grandchildren: Lincoln, Charlotte, and Cannon; a sister, Wanda Harper; along with numerous cousins and extended family members.
A memorial service to honor Mr. Tom’s life and legacy will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home with Rev. George Carroll Paulk officiating. His family will receive friends in the chapel 1-hour prior to the service.
