A Douglas man was arrested after he allegedly refused to stop for police officers when they attempted to stop him as he walked down the middle of McDonald Road, according to a Douglas Police Department report.

On May 29, 2025, at approximately 10 p.m., a DPD officer notice a man walking in the middle of McDonald Road near Pine Street. The officer turned on his blue lights and pulled up behind the man, identified as Robert Martin, 41, of Douglas. According to the report, Martin kept walking. The officer asked him to stop several times, the report says, then Martin started running.

The original officer and a second officer who had arrived gave chase and caught him at the intersection of Thrash Circle and McDonald Road. The officers handcuffed Martin and took him to jail. He was charged with not walking on the sidewalk and resisting officers/escape. Martin was released on bond after being booked in the jail.
