The Downtown Development Authority of Douglas is proud to announce Dawson and Kara Adams, owners of Delorice’s Florist, as the recipients of the 2025 Façade Improvement Grant. The Adamses will receive $10,000 to support the exterior renovation of their newly purchased building located at 108 N. Peterson Avenue in Downtown Douglas.
Dawson and Kara were selected by the Downtown Development Authority Board following a thorough and competitive application process with multiple strong submissions. Their project stood out for its commitment to preserving the rich historic character of this beautiful building and contributing to the aesthetic appeal of our downtown.
The renovation project will focus on preserving the building’s architectural charm and restoring it to its former glory. Upon completion, the space will house Delorice’s Florist on the first floor and Dawson Adams Photography Studio on the second floor.
“We are incredibly proud to award this year’s grant to Dawson and Kara,” said Megan Rabun, Executive Director of the Downtown Development Authority. “They are outstanding local entrepreneurs who have consistently supported our initiatives and invested in our vision for a thriving downtown. Their project reflects everything this grant is designed to support—historic rehabilitation, business growth, and community pride. We’re excited to play a role in their continued success.”
The Façade Improvement Grant Program is made possible through generous support from the following sponsors: Community Foundation of Coffee County (Platinum Sponsor), Southwire Co. (Gold Sponsor), and Optima Chemical (Gold Sponsor). The Façade Improvement Grant Program was developed by the DDA to incentivize investment in the Downtown District and encourage historic preservation. The DDA plans to award this grant annually as additional funding becomes available. The DDA is actively seeking both donors and applicants to help expand the program’s revitalization impact in the coming years.
Board Members of the Downtown Development Authority include Chairman Jeff Hennesy, Vice Chairman Brian Norris, Secretary/Treasurer Joy Vickers, and Board Members Scott Moore, Michael Newton, Dalton King, and Liz Grantham. The Downtown Development Authority’s mission is to drive economic growth in Downtown Douglas, creating a vibrant, thriving place for all who visit and invest.
The Adamses anticipate completing the renovation by the end of 2025, bringing new energy to one of the most visible storefronts in Downtown Douglas.
