Finally, there’s some good news for Tyreek Hill this offseason. Last Friday, Hill ran the 100 meters in the Last Chance Sprint Series, held at Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, California.
Running in the preliminaries, Hill posted a 10.15 seconds, a personal best, winning by 1.2 seconds. According to Yahoo Sports, it was Hill’s first 100-meter race since 2014 and the fastest time among the 91 sprinters to run on Friday.
Hill has had a friendly feud with Olympic gold medalist Noah Lyles and the two have been trying to set up a race against each other for a while. After Hill’s race on Friday, he held up a sign that said “Noah Could Never.” It was obviously a friendly dig at Lyles, who won Olympic gold last year with a 9.79. According to Yahoo Sports, Lyles hasn’t run slower than 10.15 since April of 2022.
Over the weekend, Lyles stated that he and Hill had planned to race this past weekend in Times Square. However, for unspecified personal reasons, they were unable to hold the race. Hill maintains that he wants to race Lyles soon and it certainly seems as though Lyles would like to race as well. To top it off, Yahoo Sports also reported that Hill has said he plans an attempt at making the 2028 Olympic team as a sprinters. By then, Hill will be 35 years old and will have taken a lot of punishment as an NFL wide receiver. That seems like a long shot at best but a race with Lyles seems almost a certainty.
And when it does happen, it will be a lot of fun.
