The citizens of Coffee County have suffered a tremendous loss. Last night, District 1 county commissioner Oscar Paulk unexpectedly passed away. Commissioner Paulk was elected to the commission in 2014 and began his term of service on January 1, 2015.

“Commissioner Paulk was an exemplary public servant who served the citizens of District 1 and Coffee County admirably and selflessly. His loss leaves an enormous void on the commission that will not be easy to fill. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Paulk family as they work through this difficult time,” stated county administrator Wesley Vickers.

A statement from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office reads as follows: “Commissioner Paulk was more than a public servant. He was a pillar of strength, leadership, and dedication to our community. We extend our deepest condolences to the Paulk family, friends, and all those in our community who were touched by his unwavering commitment and genuine heart.”

Arrangements for Commissioner Paulk are pending.
