Deputies from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office arrested 45-year-old David Metts on July 14, 2025, after he was allegedly involved in a domestic dispute during which he fired a .22 caliber handgun into his ceiling.
The call came in around 9 a.m., according to the incident report. Officers responded to the scene and found Metts, who was intoxicated and not in a good mood, according to the report. When officers spoke to him, he became irate and “started yelling obscenities.” He was placed under arrest and taken to the Coffee County Jail.
Officers on the scene began looking for the victim. She had been hiding in the house, according to the report, and she said that Metts had been drinking and arguing with everyone all day. At one point, he started shooting a .22 handgun into the ceiling and outside in the yard. Witnesses also reported seeing him shooting the gun.
Metts was charged with disorderly conduct and reckless conduct. He was booked into the Coffee County Jail and later released.
