Maggie Brown threw a one-hit complete game shutout against the Tift County Lady Blue Devils Tuesday afternoon at Faircloth Field in Douglas. The Lady Trojans won 1-0.

Tift County held Coffee to just one hit as well. However, the Lady Trojans’ lone hit of the game was responsible for the only run of the game. In the bottom of the fourth, Karlee Thomas walked then Ella Winters was hit by a pitch. Tift retired the next two Lady Trojans then Allie Pridgen singled on an 0-1 pitch that scored Thomas.

It wasn’t a big lead but it was enough to secure the win. Brown made the most of her 94 pitches, throwing 71 for strikes while striking out 16 and walking none.

The Lady Trojans take the field again on Wednesday afternoon when another squad of Lady Trojans – these from Telfair County – come to town for a 5 p.m. match-up.
