Miss Sandy Aundria Newman, age 62 of Douglas, GA passed away early Sunday afternoon, August 10, 2025, at HCA Florida Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, FL, following an extended illness.  Sandy was born July 3, 1963 in Columbus, GA to Sandra F. Newman and the late Kenneth D. Newman.

Sandy  was a bank teller for BB&T in Columbus, GA.  She loved sewing and was of the Baptist Faith.

Sandy is survived by her loving mother:  Sandra F. Newman of Douglas, Georgia; a sister:  Tammie Burlington of Rocky Mount, Virginia; a brother: Ken Newman, Jr. of Douglas, Georgia; a Special Friend and Partner, Roger Prescott of Douglas, Georgia; 5 Nieces and Nephews: Loretta Burlington and daughter Bri-Ann Burlington both of Rocky Mount, Virginia, Amanda Pyles and son Michael Pyles of Pittsville, Virginia, Joshua Burlington and wife Becca, and daughter Gracie all of Bedford, Virginia,  and Zachery Burlington and finacee, Jasmina Perez both of Henry, Virginia and Kenneth Newman, III of Douglas, Georgia; along with her puppy, Stella.

Sandy’s funeral service was held Thursday, August 14, 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Ricketson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lonnie Spikes officiating.  Musical selections included “Forever Young” from the recorded music of Johnny Cash, “Go Rest High On That Mountain” from the recorded music of Vince Gill, and “Amazing Grace” presented by Harry Smith on Harmonica.  The interment followed in Douglas City Cemetery.
