Mrs. Sarah Samantha Phillips Wiggins, age 89 of Douglas, GA passed away early Thursday morning, August 14, 2025 at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Mrs. Wiggins was born October 1, 1935 to the late Preston Phillips and the late Irma Grantham Phillips. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by 4 siblings: Preston “June Bug” Phillips, Jr., Johnny Phillips, Betty Jane Wright and Mary Evelyn Phillips.
Mrs. Wiggins, a native of Coffee County. After becoming a grandparent “Janmother” as she was so lovingly called, she became very involved with all her grandchildren’s school activities. She attended all their activities from cheerleading practices to the games. She was one of their greatest supporters. She was a member of St. Illa Baptist Church. Mrs. Wiggins loved her Lord and Savior and trusted in him for all her needs. She was a faithful member and always participated in the church activities, whether it was for adults or children.
Mrs. Wiggins was survived by her husband of 61 years: Rufus Archie Wright; 2 Children: Larry Wiggins and Lynn Wright and husband Michael all of Douglas, GA; 4 Grandchildren: Brandon Wright of Colorado and Brooke Wright Wiederhold and husband Brendan of Douglas, GA, Charlie Wiggins and wife Kaysie of Tifton, GA, and Lexie Wiggins Giddens and husband Bryce of Moultrie, GA; 8 Great-Grandchildren: Elijah Wright of Columbus, GA, Mikayah Wright of New York City, NY, Myles Wright and Lev Wright both of Colorado, Brinley Wiederhold, Brielle Wiederhold and Brexton Wiederhold all of Douglas, GA, Archer Wiggins of Tifton, GA. She is also survived by 2 sisters: Faye Mote and Virginia Lewis both of Douglas and 1 sister-in-law, Florine Phillips of Douglas, GA; Numerous Nieces and Nephews and other extended family members.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 18, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Illa Baptist Church. The service will begin at 11:00 AM with Rev. Terry Reagan officiating. The interment will follow in Douglas City Cemetery.
