Ms. Margie Harper Solomon, age 85, of Douglas, Georgia, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, August 27, 2025 at The Landings of Douglas following a lengthy illness.
Margie was born in Douglas, Georgia to Nathan Harper and Lola Thompson Harper. Margie was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Lisa Kay Solomon, by her five brothers, Edward Lee Harper, Buck Harper, Hubert Harper, Bobby Harper and Donnie Harper and one sister, Dorothy Harper.
Margie leaves behind her two sons, Jeffery (Jan) Solomon of Athens and Morgan Jason (Audrey) Solomon of Douglas, two sisters, Joanne Ridley and Carolyn (Roy) Bland, and 6 grand children, Amanda Taylor (Garrett) MacFalda, Ansley Morgan (Hale Johnson) Solomon, Tanner (Ashlyn) Solomon, Vyctoria Drew (Jarod) Wayne, JoWalker Solomon and Lizzie Bea Solomon and two great granddaughters.
Margie was a talented seamstress making many of her own clothes and those of her children, and later costumes for her grandchildren. She was a prolific gardener and was often found working in her yard. She had the ability to make the smallest of clippings grow into thriving flowering landscape plants. Margie possessed a large, caring and generous heart. She quite often was driving a friend in need to work, gifting groceries or offering to help with child care. She was wonderful cook and always at the ready with a home cooked meal when her adult children returned home. Margie’s greatest joy was her beloved children and grandchildren.
Memorialization will be by cremation and a memorial service with be held at Seventeen Creek, 2003 Seventeen Creek Lane, Axson, Georgia, 31624, on Saturday, October 11 at 11:00. All family and friends are invited to attend.
