James M. (Jim) Schwindle passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, after a brief illness.
He was preceded in death by his father, First Lieutenant Adam Charles Schwindle, who was an Army Air Force B-25 bomber pilot in World War II and was shot down and killed in combat on March 14, 1944. Jim was also preceded in death by his mother, Robinelle Cornelius (Bobbie) Schwindle Weeks of Douglas, who passed away on January 5, 1992; by his wife Judy Young Schwindle of Osierfield, Georgia, who passed away on September 13, 2002; by his stepfather, Harvey Chester (Chesley) Weeks of Douglas, who passed away on September 6, 2006; by his sister, Kay Weeks Roberts of Fernandina Beach, Florida, who passed away on September 8, 2011; and by his daughter Mary Clevenger Anderson of Centerville, Ohio, who passed away on June 4, 2022.
He is survived by his wife Linda Moore Schwindle of Douglas; son Michael Charles Schwindle and wife Dawn of Lake Barrington, Illinois; step daughter Angie Swanson Chesser and husband Rodney of Citra, Florida; step daughter Carrie Swanson Reed and husband Donnie of Crossville, Tennessee; step daughter Sandra Moore Solomon and husband Tony of Douglas, Georgia; step son Terry Minchew and wife Kristy of Douglas; step daughter Teresa Peterson Smith and husband Scott also of Douglas; and step daughter Angela Peterson Given and husband John of Nicholls, Georgia. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and step-grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and step-great grandchildren and numerous nephews, nieces, and other family members.
Services will be held at The Sanctuary on Monday, September 8, 2025 at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Bob Powell and Rev. DeWayne Joiner officiating the service, followed by a graveside service at the Douglas City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 8, 2025 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at The Sanctuary.
