Ms. Margaret Hampton, age 78, passed away Saturday evening, August 30, 2025 at St. Joseph’s/Candler hospital in Savannah, Georgia, following a recent decline in health.

Margaret, a Coffee County native, was born on January 8, 1947 to the late Alton Harper and the late Idell Deen Harper.  She retired from the City of Broxton following 15 years as City Clerk.  She was a loving mother and grandmother, and a long time member of Rocky Pond Baptist Church.  Along with her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by two brothers: John Hampton and Lester Hampton.

Margaret leaves behind to cherish fond memories 3 children: Al and Pam Merritt of Ambrose, Georgia, Teresa Childers of Thompson, Georgia, and Andy and Jo Ann Fussell of Douglas, Georgia; 11 grandchildren: Jacob and Countrey Harper, Jay Merritt, Nikki Williams; Lehi and Amber Stevens; Morgan and LeAnna Merritt, Brittany and Justin Harrison, Andrew and Abi Fussell, Raven and Donnie Hurst, Rebecca Fussell, Ashley and Tristen Gunn, Allison Fussell; 18 great grandchildren; along with a number of nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Memorialization will be by cremation and a memorial service is being scheduled for a later date at Rocky Pond Baptist Church.

Margaret’s arrangements have been entrusted to the kind and compassionate staff of Ricketson Funeral Home, Inc. of Douglas, Georgia.
