A Tallahassee man was arrested on the evening of September 10, 2025, following an incident at a store on Highway 221.

Deputies responded to a business on Highway 221 North and found a male reportedly slumped over the wheel of a vehicle. He was identified as Matthew Clay Chitty, age 55, of Tallahassee, Florida. During the investigation, Chitty admitted to occasional methamphetamine use and consented to a search of his vehicle.

Deputies recovered a clear plastic bag containing a blue crystal-like substance suspected to be fentanyl. A further search of Chitty’s person led to the discovery of another bag containing a crystal-like substance suspected to be methamphetamine.

The Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit responded and as a result of their brief investigation, charged Chitty with possession of fentanyl and possession of methamphetamine. Both charges are classified as felonies.

Chitty remains in the Coffee County Jail.
