A 23-year-old Nicholls woman remains in jail after allegedly forced her way into her ex-girlfriend’s home and fired a gun.
An incident report from the sheriff’s office states that on August 30, 2025, at around 4:45 p.m., officers responded to a Hidden Valley Road address in reference to an individual with a gun who was shooting. The suspect, Catalina Esperanza Coronado, had left the scene in a Camaro but officers had stopped her down the road from the scene of the incident. According to the report, Coronado would not talk to officers and appeared to be quite intoxicated. Officers located a .22 handgun and ammunition in the vehicle.
The victim stated that she and Coronado were exes. She said that Coronado had forced her way into the house and pulled a .22 pistol. Officers also found a .22 bullet on the front doorsteps.
As a result, Coronado was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, two counts of battery, two counts of cruelty to children – 3rd degree, DUI, open container, discharging a firearm while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, obstruction, and home invasion – 1st degree. She remains it Coffee County Jail.
