Late Tuesday morning, a vehicle fleeing from deputies crashed in the Oak Park neighborhood. Two individuals were in the vehicle. One did not survive while the other suffered serious injuries and was transported for treatment. Below is a statement from the sheriff’s office regarding the incident:

“Deputies with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office were conducting proactive patrol when they attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle fled, leading deputies on a pursuit. The suspect gained a significant lead, and when deputies caught up, they found the vehicle had crashed.

“The crash resulted in one fatality. One occupant from the vehicle was transported to Coffee Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The investigation is ongoing and has been turned over to the Georgia State Patrol. More information will be released as it becomes available.”
