This flu season, your best protection is available at your local county health department. Beginning Wednesday, September 17, flu shots will be available at all health departments across the Southeast Health District. In the U.S., flu season typically spans the fall and winter months, with flu activity usually starting in October and peaking between December and February. Although influenza viruses circulate year-round, now is the time to prepare and protect yourself.

A yearly flu vaccine is the first line of defense against the flu and is recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for everyone age 6 months and older. Vaccination is especially important for certain high-risk groups, including young children, pregnant women, adults aged 65 and older, and individuals with chronic health conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, or heart disease).

Immunizations are available as a walk-in service at all health departments within the district. Additionally, several counties within the Southeast Health District will be hosting drive-thru flu shot clinics, allowing you to roll in for protection and cruise out with peace of mind. Learn more about our drive-thru clinics, dates, and times by visiting www.sehdph.org/flu-clinics-2025. We kindly ask that you bring a form of identification and your insurance card (if you have coverage) when you come to receive a flu vaccine.

Visit www.sehdph.org/our-counties/ to find a health department location near you. For more information about flu vaccines, please call 1(855)473-4374.
