The South Georgia State College Hawks soccer team moved to 5-0 on the season after defeating Oxford College 5-0 at Oxford on Friday afternoon.
The Hawks led 3-0 at halftime and scored two more goals in the second half. Nandi Carpenter (21:00, 55:00) and Riley Fisher (26:00, 39:00) scored two goals each. Andrea Cova (52:00) scored a goal as well.
Oxford had six shots on goal during the contest. Keeper Jessica Joiner stopped all six. Bailey Maroney, Naely Torres, Madeleine Forschler, and Cova all recorded assists. Carpenter’s goal, the Hawks’ final score of the game, was unassisted.
Currently, SGSC is first place in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association standings. The Hawks face Central Georgia Tech on September 24 on the campus of South Georgia State College. Game time is 2 p.m.
