Last week, former Trojan and current Georgia Military College Bulldog Tyrese Woodgett had his breakout game. This time, it was West Georgia University linebacker Jyarius Carter’s turn.
The true freshman has quietly been putting together a solid 2025 season. He’s played in every game and made the stat report with a few tackles each week. Saturday, however, he announced his presence to Wolves’ fans and future opponents alike. Against Eastern Kentucky, Carter recorded three solo tackles, two assisted tackles, a sack, and his first interception. It was his biggest game since week one’s win over Samford, in which Carter recorded four solo tackles.
West Georgia won 33-12 and remains undefeated on the season. The Wolves are 4-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
Speaking of Woodgett, he had 14 carries for 58 yards in the Bulldogs’ win 49-34 win over Lackawanna College. He also caught one pass for a 67-yard touchdown. For the season, Woodgett is averaging 11.7 yards per carry and has scored six rushing touchdowns. He has also caught eight passes for 181 yards and two more scores. His former teammates, linemen Jerbazeon Grant and Kyler Smith, were in the trenches clearing the way.
Kicker Tug Vaughn was five out of six on extra points. Six of his eight kickoffs were touchbacks.
Charleston Southern had another tough day, falling 34-7 to William and Mary. Defensive backs Anthony Paulk and Jayden Hancock continued doing what they’ve done all season long. Paulk tallied two tackles while Hancock had three. Paulk also had an assisted tackle for a loss.
Clark Atlanta fell to 2-2 on the season after losing 49-38 to Allen University. Freshman long snapper Jaydon Vester saw some playing time in that contest.
For the third week in a row, Tulane Green Wave running back Maurice Turner did not play due to an ankle injury.
