SGSC soccer splits games with Central Georgia Tech and Gordon State this week, remains atop GCAA standings

The South Georgia State College soccer Hawks split games with the Central Georgia Technical College Titans and the Gordon State College Highlanders this week. Both games were played at home. The Hawks defeated Central Georgia 8-0 on Wednesday then fell to Gordon 2-0 on Friday.

The Hawks scored two goals in the first half against the Titans then added six more in the second half. Nandi Carpenter scored SGSC’s first goal 2:00 in. She scored her second goal at the 27:50 mark of the first half. In the second half, Jaliyah Neff (47:50), Bailey Maroney (48:56), Carpenter again (50:00), Naely Torres (52:00 and 57:07), and Andrea Cova (84:00) all scored.

Friday, the Hawks faced Gordon. The Highlanders came to Douglas prepared to play and handed the Hawks their first defeat of the season.

Despite the loss, the Hawks remain in first place in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association standings with a 6-1 record.

The Hawks next face Andrew College Tuesday afternoon on the SGSC campus at 2 p.m.
