A Douglas couple was arrested and charged with serious crimes as a result of an alleged alcohol-fueled domestic dispute that turned physical, according to an incident report from the Douglas Police Department.
On September 15, 2025 at around 7:30 p.m., an officer responded to Coffee Regional Medical Center in reference to a domestic dispute. The officer spoke with Vanesa Bryan, 42, of Douglas, who reported that she and her boyfriend, Patrick Renfroe, 56, had gotten into a fight. The report says that she stated that during the fight, Renfroe had choked her. The officer questioned her further, the report says, and she admitted that she had hit Renfroe multiple times during the incident. She added that the fight began over dogs using the bathroom on the front porch of their home, the report says.
The officer went their home and spoke with Renfroe, who, the report says, was heavily intoxicated. He said they had gotten into a fight and both were intoxicated at the time. Renfroe stated that Bryan had hit him; the report states that Renfroe had a knot over his right eye consistent with being hit. He also had scratches and scabs on his arms.
The report states that Renfroe admitted to placing his hands around Bryan’s neck and choking her because “of comments she made regarding his deceased family members.”
The officer decided to take both Renfroe and Bryan to jail. Renfroe was charged with aggravated assault (family violence) and Bryan was charged with battery (family violence). Both were booked into the Coffee County Jail and later released.
