On October 16, 2025, the Law Enforcement Division of CSX Transportation notified local authorities after receiving reports of two individuals unlawfully train hopping. Deputies with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office responded and initiated efforts to locate and apprehend the suspects, later identified as 21-year-old Jacob Cuvellier of Auburn, New Hampshire, and 18-year-old Charles August Rowe of Hartland, New Hampshire.

According to reports, a CSX conductor observed the two individuals aboard a train earlier in the evening. When Coffee County Sheriff’s Office detectives became involved, Cuvellier and Rowe exited the train and fled into a wooded area near the Sinkhole Road crossing. Following a brief search, deputies and detectives successfully located and apprehended both suspects without incident.

Cuvellier and Rowe were transported to the Coffee County Jail. CSX has charged both individuals with Criminal Trespass and Hiding on a Train for the Purpose of Stealing a Ride, both misdemeanor offenses under Georgia law.

The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office extends its appreciation to CSX personnel for their cooperation during the incident.
