31-year-old arrested for allegedly stealing spray paint can from auto shop

A 31-year-old Douglas man was arrested and charged with theft by taking after he allegedly took a spray paint can. The alleged incident took place overnight on September 22-23, 2025, at an auto shop on Peterson Avenue.

According to an incident report from the Douglas Police Department, multiple subjects came through the garage, which was open, and stole a spray paint can. Video footage showed the theft take place. The individual who allegedly took the can was identified as Stanley Kirkland, 31, of Douglas.

A vehicle on the property had also been burglarized, according to the report.

Kirkland was apprehended on September 24, 2025, and booked into the Coffee County Jail on theft by taking charges. He was later released on bond.
