Mary Elaine Lee, age 75. of Douglas, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at her residence, where she was surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born on April 22, 1950, to the late William Carlos Johnson and the late Odenia Harvey Johnson.

Her survivors include: one daughter, Ruby “Kay” (Marcos) Mejia of Douglas, GA; one stepdaughter, Melissa (Jamie) Edge of Douglas, GA; three sisters, Willene Rigdon of Alma, GA, Vicki Sheree Kelly of Alabama, and Karen Diane (Berry) McCarty of Alma, GA; two grandchildren, Hannah Danielle (Eutiquio) Guzman and Tony (Emily Roberson) Bustos; and four great-grandchildren, Liliana Ramirez, Jesus Guzman, Noah Guzman and Gabriel Guzman. She was preceded in death by: father, William Carlos Johnson: mother, Odenia Harvey Johnson; her beloved husband, Virgil Howard Lee; brother, Lloyd Adams, Jr.; and sister, Mary Frances Smart.

The family will receive friends Thursday, October 23, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Sims Funeral Home in Douglas, GA.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025 at 2:00 PM, at Chatterton Grove Holiness Baptist Church in Chatterton, GA, with Rev.Brandon Burnam officiating. Interment will follow at Chatterton Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will include: Berry McCarty, Jimmy Streat, Roy Johnson, Max Duque, Daniel Diliegros, and Danny McCarty.

Sympathy may be expressed by signing the online registry at www.simsfuneralhome.org.

Sims Funeral Home, Douglas, GA is in charge of the arrangements.
