Mr. Billy Harrison Meeler, age 84, of Douglas, Georgia, passed away Monday afternoon, October 27, 2025 at Vista Park Health and Rehabilitation surrounded by his family following a recent decline in health.

Mr. Meeler was born September 7, 1941 in Douglas, Georgia to the late Ernest Meeler and the late Myrtle Bryant Meeler.  He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy where he served a 4 year term before transferring to the Naval Reserve.  Following his military career he became an electrician and worked for Purvis Electric for many years.  In his leisure time he enjoyed fishing, gardening, and he loved building things.  He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Mr. Meeler is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Shirley Ann Jewell Meeler of Douglas, Georgia; 3 daughters: Kimberly Vickers (Brent) of Douglas, Georgia, Brandi Britt (Kevin) of Patterson, Georgia, Shenise Lee (Scott) of Douglas, Georgia; 2 siblings: Earline Shivers of Columbus, Georgia, Wayne Meeler (Donna) of Douglas, Georgia; 9 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; along with a number of nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Along with his parents, Mr. Meeler was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Meeler.

A graveside funeral service and interment will be held to honor Mr. Meeler on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Little Utah Cemetery with Rev. Timothy Fussell officiating. 

Active pallbearers will include: Raheem Smith, Tyler Strickland, David Powers, Harrison Cervantes, Charlie Cervantes, Mikey Carter, Josh Anderson, and Taylor Lee.

Mr. Meeler’s arrangements have been entrusted to the kind and compassionate staff of Ricketson Funeral Home, Inc. of Douglas, Georgia.
