Two Douglas men were arrested and remain in jail in connection with an incident that left a female victim with cuts on her throat and left arm, according to a sheriff’s office incident report.
The incident happened on October 19, 2025, at around 5:30 p.m. An officer responded to a Sparrow Street address and met with the female victim, who had cuts on her left arm and throat as well as red marks on her throat consistent with being held by the throat, the report says.
The victim reported that she had met Cedric Thomas, 39, of Douglas, a few days prior. They were not romantically involved, the report says. She went with him to another home on Sparrow Street to take a shower. After she got dressed, she stated that Thomas did not like her clothes and insulted her. Then he became angry, grabbed her by the throat, pushed her against a wall, and picked her up, the report says. Then he cut her with a box cutter on her throat and left arm, according to the report. The victim said she tried to leave several times but Thomas allegedly would not let her.
The officer went to the location where the alleged incident happened. Thomas was not there but Robert Surrency Jr., 32, of Douglas, was. Surrency stated that he did not see Thomas put his hands on the victim but he heard him threaten her. During the investigation, Surrency allegedly told officers his name was Larry Crimer. The report, however, states that the officer knew Surrency and knew he had provided a false name.
Surrency was arrested for giving false information to police. Thomas apprehended two days later and charged with aggravated assault and false imprisonment. Both are being held at the Coffee County Jail.
