Roger Ray Allen, of Douglas, Georgia, passed away on October 29, 2025, at UF Health Shands Hospital.

Roger was born on July 4, 1948, in Tifton, Georgia to the late Harold Dean Allen and Ruby Ray Allen.  He graduated in 1970 from the University of Georgia with a BS in Agriculture.  Shortly after graduating, Roger married Sara Eaves Allen.  Roger and Sara have been married for 52 years and have three daughters: Roz Khalil (Hitham) of Valdosta, Georgia, Hope Cook (Chase) of Athens, Georgia, and Becca Storey (Phillip) of Valdosta, Georgia.  Roger and Sara have four grandchildren: Eli Cook, Ollie Cook, Jacqueline Storey, and Julia Storey.

Roger was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.  He retired from the USDA where he was the Director of the Coffee County Farm Service Agency.  Throughout the years, Roger enjoyed teaching Sunday school, grilling steaks, playing golf, hunting, and fishing at the farm.  Additionally, Roger facilitated the Coffee County Low Vision and Blind Support Group for many years.  Roger was a former Gideon and active member of First Baptist Church of Douglas where he served as a deacon.

Those who knew Roger, remember him as a loyal Christian friend, hard worker, and a pillar of strength.  He was witty, helpful, and always persevered, even in the face of his many health trials and challenges.  He will be deeply missed by all who loved him, yet his family takes comfort in knowing he is in heaven with Jesus.  Roger wanted all to know that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Harold Dean Allen, Jr.

A graveside service to remember Roger will be held Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in the Allen family plot at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Tifton, Georgia.  Dr. Don Hattaway will officiate.

Condolences, kind words, and fond memories may be shared with Roger’s family at www.ricketsonfuneralhome.com.

Roger’s arrangements have been entrusted to the kind and compassionate staff of Ricketson Funeral Home, Inc. of Douglas, Georgia.
