On October 25, 2025, at approximately 12:31 a.m., deputies responded to 1001 Ramblewood Road in reference to a vehicle found in a pond. Upon arrival, deputies located the vehicle but found no driver on scene. The vehicle, which had no license plate, insurance, or current Georgia registration, was later identified through documents found inside as belonging to Jose Acosta Sosa.

Deputies were unable to locate Sosa that night. The following day, Sosa’s wife contacted the sheriff’s office to report the vehicle missing. On October 29, 2025, deputies made contact with Sosa at his residence, where he admitted to driving the vehicle and leaving the scene.

Sosa was arrested and transported to the Coffee County Jail. He was cited for failure to report an accident and failure to maintain lane.
