SGSC’s championship season ends in district tournament with loss to USC Lancaster

The South Georgia State College soccer Hawks’ season ended Friday at the district tournament in Sumter, South Carolina, with a 4-1 loss to the USC Lancaster Lancers.

The Lancers scored two goals in each half while the Hawks managed one goal in the second half. USC Lancaster’s midfielder Fien Bisshops (2) and forward Emma Sonnabend (2) scored the Lancers’ goals.

SGSC center Riley Fisher scored the Hawks’ only goal. The Hawks had six shots on goal during the game. SGSC keeper Dayanara Figueroa recorded five saves.

The Hawks finished the season with an 11-3 overall record (9-1 in league play) and a Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association conference championship.
