Coffee Regional Medical Center (CRMC) was once again awarded an “A” Hospital Safety Grade for the sixth consecutive time by The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country using evidence-based measures of patient safety focused exclusively on errors, accidents, injuries, and infections.

This marks the sixth consecutive “A” grade for Coffee Regional Medical Center, making it a Leapfrog Straight A Hospital — a distinction that recognizes hospitals for maintaining the highest safety standards for the last five or more grading periods. This is a twice-annual national rating assigning a single letter grade to hospitals based on their ability to protect patients from preventable harm and medical errors. CRMC has held a grade “A” distinction since Spring 2023.

“This recognition is a testament to the unwavering dedication and compassion of our entire team,” said Vicki Lewis, President and CEO of Coffee Regional Medical Center. “Earning another ‘A’ Hospital designation from The Leapfrog Group is truly an honor. It reflects the collective commitment of our physicians, nurses, clinical teams, and support staff who consistently go above and beyond to provide safe, high-quality care. I am incredibly proud and grateful for their continued pursuit of excellence on behalf of our patients and community.”

“My sincere congratulations to Coffee Regional Medical Center for upholding patient safety standards through thick and thin, achieving an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade for SIX consecutive rounds of the Safety Grade,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “Consistently earning an A demonstrates a long-term, organization-wide commitment to putting patient safety first.”

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program focused exclusively on preventable medical errors, injuries and infections that can lead to harm or even death. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
