The Coffee Trojans’ 2025 season ended in the first round of the playoffs with a 31-14 loss to the Sequoyah Chiefs in Canton. Coffee finished the season with a 4-7 record.
The Chiefs took a first-quarter lead courtesy of a Will Rajecki touchdown. Coffee’s Bobby Reynolds tied the score with a touchdown of his own with 6:55 left in the second quarter.
On Sequoyah’s ensuing possession, the Chiefs fumbled and Quan Jefferson recovered at the Chiefs’ 23 yard line. The Trojans moved toward the end zone and on fourth down, quarterback Tyler Dowling scored on a short run to give Coffee a 14-7 lead with 3:10 left in the second quarter. Chiefs kicker Leif Hansen kicked a 35-yard field goal at the end of the first half to narrow the Trojans’ advantage to 14-10.
Coffee took the kick to open the third quarter and drove down to the Sequoyah two but couldn’t get any points. It’s as close as the Trojans would get the rest of the night.
The Chiefs launched a clock-destroying 98-yard drive that spotlighted Rajecki and his running ability. In the end, though, it was a pass from quarterback Colby Martin to Holden Campbell that put Sequoyah back on top. Hansen’s point-after was good and the Chiefs took the lead 17-14 with 2:56 left in the third quarter.
Sequoyah would go on to score two more touchdowns in the second half – a short run by Martin and another score by Rajecki. The final touchdown came with 1:52 left in the game.
This was Coffee’s first loss in the round of 32 since 2021, when the Trojans lost to Creekside 28-18 in round one.
