On November 16, 2025, agents with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office Drug Interdiction & Criminal Enforcement Unit (DICE) successfully located and apprehended William Micajah Batten, who had repeatedly fled from law enforcement in recent months in an effort to avoid arrest.

Batten, who had previously been charged and sentenced on felony drug offenses, allegedly violated the conditions of his parole in late 2024. As a result, the Georgia State Board of Pardons and Paroles issued a warrant for his arrest. Deputies and drug agents identified Batten several months ago and attempted to make contact, but he fled on foot and could not be located at that time.

During this most recent encounter, Batten again attempted to evade apprehension; however, this time he was met by a coordinated and prepared response from the newly formed DICE Unit. Their joint effort led to Batten’s swift arrest, bringing an end to his extended period of avoidance. Batten was transported to the Coffee County Jail without incident.

Batten is widely known by law enforcement for peddling methamphetamine and ephedrine, a chemical commonly used in the illegal production of crystal meth. His arrest removes yet another contributor to the distribution of dangerous narcotics within Coffee County.

Sheriff Fred Cole stated, “This operation is exactly what our zero-tolerance, no-nonsense policy looks like. It’s a reflection of the sheriff’s office’s firm stance on drug and criminal activity in our community.”

The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office will continue its proactive operations and multi-unit collaboration to protect residents and eliminate drug-related crime.
