The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office is providing an update regarding the search for James Dustin Cribbs, age 36, who had been actively sought in connection to multiple auto thefts and a burglary in Coffee County. Over the past two weeks, Cribbs is believed to have stolen five vehicles, including a motorcycle.
On November 18, 2025, Cribbs was apprehended by the Waycross Police Department after detectives with the CCSO DICE Unit were alerted to his possible whereabouts. The tip followed reports of a vehicle matching the description of one he had stolen late yesterday in Douglas. Detectives quickly coordinated with partner agencies, ultimately leading to Cribbs’s capture without further incident.
This arrest follows previously obtained video footage from the Jameson Inn in Douglas, where investigators observed Cribbs driving a stolen white GMC truck. In the footage, Cribbs was seen spray-painting over the front license plate in what appeared to be an effort to prevent the vehicle from being identified. That vehicle was recovered on Thursday of last week.
Sheriff Fred Cole thanks the community for its vigilance and continued willingness to assist law enforcement efforts. Sheriff Cole praised the coordinated response, noting that Cribbs’s apprehension is a direct result of strong interagency communication and the swift execution by the Waycross Police Department.
