On November 6, 2025, representatives from various city and county agencies gathered at the C.E. Weir Center for the quarterly Joint Co-Agencies Meeting. This collaborative forum brings together officials from the City of Douglas, Coffee County Commission, Coffee County Emergency Management, the Board of Education, Wiregrass Georgia Technical College, South Georgia State College, the cities of Ambrose, Nicholls, and Broxton, as well as Coffee Regional Medical Center. The meeting serves as a platform to share updates on upcoming projects and align efforts to achieve goals that benefit the entire community.
“We take great pride in being one of the city-county governments in Georgia that truly collaborate to serve our citizens,” said Mayor Tony Paulk. “When agencies unite for the betterment of the entire community, success follows—and we’ve proven that time and again through the many impactful projects our city and county have accomplished together.”
Douglas City Manager Charles Davis provided an overview of the Joint Comprehensive Plan for Coffee County and the cities of Ambrose, Broxton, Douglas, and Nicholls. He emphasized the importance of implementing this plan, particularly when setting goals and preparing for the annual budget.
A key highlight of the meeting was the introduction of the Cadmus-Jacobs Group by FEMA representatives. This group has been tasked with developing a comprehensive Disaster Recovery Plan for Coffee County. As part of this initiative, a Stakeholders Meeting is scheduled for December 11, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Engram Hall on the campus of South Georgia State College. Community officials and members of the public are encouraged to attend and provide input for the Disaster Recovery Plan.
