Deputies arrested a 17-year-old and charged him with aggravated battery after he allegedly assaulted a man with whom he had been drinking. The incident occurred on November 9, 2025 but the suspect, Brayan Colchado, was not taken into custody until November 18.
The incident report states that an officer responded to a New Forest Highway residence on November 9 in reference to someone beating up her brother, Brayan Colchado, 17. When the officer arrived, she was told that Colchado had ridden off with another individual. When they returned, the man jumped on Colchado then pointed a gun at him, the report says. The report adds that Colchado’s father, Juan, took the gun from the man.
The officer found Colchado intoxicated, the report says, and without any visible injuries. A gun was found inside the home.
The officer went to a Danny Kirkland Road address to speak to the other party. According to the report, he and Brayan Colchado had ridden off drinking. However, the officer discovered a different story. Witnesses said that Brayan and Juan Colchado had beaten up the other individual, who was at Bacon County Hospital when the officer arrived. The following day, the officer and the victim met at the Nicholls Police Department, where the victim stated that he and Brayan Colchado had been riding around drinking, the report says. He added that Brayan Colchado had his own alcohol.
The victim stated that Juan Colchado retrieved a gun from the victim’s truck. Brayan Colchado allegedly hit the victim with a crossbow, the report says. Witnesses reported seeing a crossbow laying in the ditch at the scene. Witnesses also reported seeing Juan holding a gun but no one saw him point it at anyone. After Brayan allegedly hit the victim with the crossbow, he continued hitting him in the face, the report says. A female at the scene helped stop the alleged assault and get the victim away, the report says. The female reported seeing a crossbow in the ditch near the scene of the altercation.
The report states that the victim suffered visible injuries from the altercation and also had documentation from the hospital stating that he had a fractured nose. The gun was also returned to the victim.
On November 18, 2025, Brayan Colchado was taken into custody and charged with aggravated battery. He was booked into the Coffee County but has since been released.
