A domestic incident that began in the city then ended up in the county reached a conclusion when both parties were arrested and jailed.
According to an incident from the Douglas Police Department, a deputy responded to a Bay Tree Road address in the county. However, because the alleged incident that prompted the call occurred in the city, the deputy requested assistance from the city.
When the officer arrived, he discovered that Randy Johnson, 28, and Natasha Dixon, 24, had gotten into an altercation at a nail salon in the city. According to the report, Dixon stated that she went to get her nails done and Johnson, who had been in an argumentative mood all day, showed up. She gave him the keys to the vehicle she was driving and asked him to get her things from the car. The report says that Dixon stated that he got her things out and threw them on the ground. Then he started recording her on his phone and she slapped the phone out of his hand. The report then says that Johnson pushed her down, resulting in visible injuries to her elbows and forearms.
When the officer spoke with Johnson, he said that Dixon took the car when he asked her not to. The car is in his name but he bought it for her, he said in the report. He stated that Dixon was allegedly drinking and she had their child with him, which is what angered him. He had asked her to come home but she didn’t, the report says. He knew she was at the nail salon so he went there. When he arrived at the nail salon, Dixon gave him the keys and said she needed to get her things out of the car. Johnson said that she kept snatching on the door handle as he was trying to unlock the door. When the door finally opened, he set her belongings on the ground and told her to get them, the report says. Johnson said he was recording so he could video the inside of her purse where there was allegedly marijuana. He said he was standing between the open door and the car. She slapped the phone from his hand and he then pushed her out of the way so he could get the phone.
The officer reviewed the video footage and decided that there were two incidents that took place: The first one involved Dixon slapping the phone out of Johnson’s hands and the other occurred when Johnson pushed Dixon down. The report says that the officer determined Dixon to be the aggressor in the first incident and while Johnson was the aggressor in the second incident. Johnson was determined to be the aggressor in the second incident because, the report states, the video did not support his statement that he was in a confined area between the door and the car. The video showed Johnson was standing in an open area and did not have to push Dixon out of the way to retrieve his phone, the report states.
Neither party wanted to press charges but because the incident was a domestic issue, the officer took warrants against both. Johnson was charged with simple battery – family violence while Dixon was charged with criminal trespass – family violence. Both were booked into the Coffee County Jail and later released.
