City officials met with local apartment managers at City Hall on December 3, 2025, to continue discussions focused on enhancing safety in and around apartment complexes within the city limits. Mayor Tony Paulk shared an illumination assessment of apartment property, highlighting areas where improved lighting can make a difference. The group also explored working together to create solutions to address concerns and the cost of security camera systems so that the city would not need to implement an ordinance mandating surveillance cameras in all public areas.
“These ongoing conversations demonstrate our shared commitment to keep our neighborhoods safe,” said Mayor Paulk. “I’m encouraged by the collaboration with our apartment managers and look forward to continuing these productive discussions. The city is taking a pause on mandating an ordinance to allow complex managers time to assess their own property and find solutions to improve safety.”
To allow for time to assess the feasibility and costs of implementing security camera systems, a follow-up meeting will be held mid-year in 2026.
