Keep Douglas Beautiful has partnered with Keep Georgia Beautiful, ESG Operations, Georgia Forestry, and others to provide the Bring One for the Chipper live Christmas tree recycling service on January 3, 2026, 8:30 am-11:30 am, at 1011 Shirley Avenue. Live Christmas trees that are bare of decorations, ornaments, lighting, tinsel, and other adornments will be recycled free of charge.
Bring One for the Chipper, a holiday tradition in Georgia for over 30 years and the largest tree recycling program in the nation, allows citizens to bring their Christmas trees to one of more than 120 sites statewide. Trees will be recycled into mulch for playgrounds, city and county landscaping projects, and individual homes, and will also be used to provide habitats for fish and other wildlife.
Last year, over a total of 37,342 trees from 124 locations across the state. Of these, 34,773 were recycled into mulch for playgrounds, city and county landscaping projects, and individual homes. 3,364 trees were sunk into lakes in order to provide fish habitats. 6,357 were used for fuel or other uses. Since the program’s inception, over 6 million Christmas trees have been diverted from landfills.
Organizers would like to offer a special thanks to their sponsors this year: The City of Douglas, ESG Operations, Keep Georgia Beautiful, and the Georgia Forestry Commission.
