New Year’s Eve got off to an inauspicious start for a few folks traveling on the east perimeter. Shortly before 9 p.m., officers, a trooper, firefighters, and EMS responded to a serious two vehicle crash at the intersection of Perimeter Road and Highway 158 East.
Involved were a silver Audi A6 and a white Jeep Grand Cherokee. The two vehicles collided almost head-on at the intersection. The Audi suffered significant damage and came to a rest under the red light facing east. The Grand Cherokee left the roadway and rolled down the ditch, rolling on its side into the fence at the cargo trailer lot next to Vickers Audio.
Multiple injuries were reported and the injured were transported to Coffee Regional Medical Center for treatment. The accident blocked the intersection for a few minutes but crews have since cleared the wreckage.
