A 27-year-old was arrested and jailed after he allegedly tried to enter a home at Town & Country Mobile Home Park by shooting the door with a .40-caliber handgun.
According to an incident report from the sheriff’s office, on August 16, 2026, at 11:40 p.m., deputies responded to a shots fired call at the mobile home park. Several officers responded and one of the responding deputies spoke to the suspect, Marvin Ramirez, 27, of Douglas. The report says that Ramirez was obviously intoxicated and had a Taurus handgun in his vehicle. Ramirez also had six unfired rounds of .40-caliber ammunition in his pocket, the report says.
The victim reported that Ramirez had come to the house and broken a window on the door to gain entry. Then, the report says, he fired his gun into the door. He couldn’t get in, the report says, so he ran away. Officers found five spent shell casings on the steps of the porch and multiple bullet holes in the door and doorknob.
The report also says that Ramirez and the victim have two children together but Ramirez has custody of the kids due to an ongoing DFACS investigation.
There were also several other people inside the home at the time of the incident, the report states.
Ramirez was arrested and charged with four counts of aggravated assault, two counts of cruelty to children in the 3rd degree, criminal attempt to commit a felony, public drunkenness, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and criminal trespass.
