A 27-year-old Douglas man allegedly started off the morning of December 7, 2025, with a bang – and he ended up in jail as a result.
According to a report from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, on December 7 at around 8 a.m., an officer responded to a Cutter Road address and spoke with a female complainant. She stated that Johnny Farrell Davis III, 27, of Douglas, had entered the home without knocking. A child was in the home and Davis spoke to the child and rubbed its belly. Then, the report says, he left. The baby’s mother was in the shower at the time.
The complainant stated that she saw Davis take a knife and stab all four tires on a Ford Escape in the driveway. Then Davis disappeared behind a bush and allegedly fired a gun. The complainant said she heard a gunshot but did not see him shoot because of the bush. Davis then said that he would be back, according to the report. Davis then left in a white Chrysler 300.
The officer learned that Davis might be staying in Ambrose so he headed in that direction. On the way, he saw a white Chrysler 300 and turned around. The officer found the car at the intersection of Highway 32 and Highway 268. Davis had fled the car but the officer could see a Smith & Wesson 9mm in the passenger seat. He called a tow truck to get the car and while he was waiting, Davis walked out of the woods.
When questioned, Davis said that he had been working in Tennessee and the baby’s mother wouldn’t let him see the child, the report says. Davis also stated that “he just wasn’t in a good emotional state,” according to the report.
Davis was arrested and charged with criminal trespass and reckless conduct. He was transported to the Coffee County Jail and later released.
